Replacement for a Logitech MX310?

So, my 6 year old MX310 is finally kicking the bucket, and I'm looking for an inexpensive replacement. I'd honestly just buy another one if I could, but apparently they're not made anymore. So, what's the closest thing to an MX310 nowadays?

It'll be for heavy duty gaming, so it has to be accurate, low latency (preferrably wired), and durable. Also, 5 buttons at least, as I grew quite fond of the side buttons on the old mouse. And preferrably under $20-30.

I'd say an MX518 would be your best bet if you can still find one of those.
Kind of over my budget, and I'm not very sold on the looks. Logitech M500 I could get behind, but still a bit too expensive, and I'd rather have the side buttons on either side instead of both on one side.

I was also looking at the Logitech LS1, but reading some of the reviews on the web make me think twice.

I might just fork over enough for a g400, but I bought that MX310 for like $15 and it was just about perfect. Aren't there any budget gaming mice like that around now?

No, nor were there. The MX310 had an MSRP of at least $30, typically sold for $25 or so when not on sale, the dollar today isn't what it was 5 years ago, and to top it off, oil and Chinese COL have been going up since then.

However, here's a search to check out, if you can go with a random brand name:

I'm also an MX-310 fan. I'm using one right now, as a matter of fact. (It's a backup mouse because the left click button no longer works very well.) I wish more mouse designers would put thumb buttons on both sides of the mouse. It seems to be a very unpopular design for some reason, but I think it's great.

I've owned two MX-310s. My biggest gripe is that they only last me about 1-2 years until the mouse cord shorts and dies.

If you really want another MX-310, they're available on eBay, but the prices aren't very good. You could probably get one shipped for around $18. It might get shipped from abroad.

I think you can also sometimes find them for sale at shady sites. Do a Google search for "Logitech MX-310" and "Logitech MX310" and see what comes up.

So, I called Logitech customer service this morning, gave them the serial number of my mouse, and got a coupon code for 50% off any one product in their webshop. Got a G400 for less than $30, free shipping.

Moral of the story: call Logitech, they're cool. :D

Whippersnapper makes what may be a critical point for some folks and I agree.

The G300 has the shoulder buttons on top which defeats their purpose. One would have to move index finger off of primary click or middle finger off of secondary click or use thumb and pinky at awkward angle to use the “shoulder” buttons on the G300.

With the MX 310 you can perform more simultaneous actions with less finger movement even though it has less buttons.

Microsoft makes an Intellimouse version that is a reasonable equivalent to the MX 310 in general form if not performance. It is significantly bigger, has lower optical resolution, it's a bit too easy to hit the shoulder buttons and it has that glaring red eye on it's front (which can be removed).. but I'm glad I have one on the shelf.

The MX 310 is the best of the bunch. It's also much more durable than many of the more elaborate Logitech mice and works well with the native Windows drivers.

I'm excited to read discussion of the MX-310 -- does anyone have it fully working in Windows 7? and if so, how? where do you get the software?
My windows 7 only let me configur 3 keys, not the 6 as in XP :-(

I will so appreciate if somebody can tell me how to make MX-310 work in windows 7, like it does in XP, but I do appreciate who said that G300 is the new suchlike version, thank you !
