Hi, I need to replace a 6800GT that has recently died.

Old 6800GT--link doesn't seem to work: google "PVT45GUDF3" and view the first cached.

I was thinking either 7600GS or 7600GT. Would either of these be better than the 6800GT? Price is not a concern. I play Age of Empires III. Any suggestions on which to take?

7600GS

7600GT

The 7600GT "highly recommends" a 400W power supply, although I only have a 350W but with little attached to it.

The 7600gt would be a good replacement - it's a bit faster than a 6800gt in most if not all benchmarks. It also does not use much power, so whatever PSU could run a 6800gt would easily run a 7600gt. The 7600gs is significantly slower, so I would not consider it an option.

u could PROBABLY get away with a 7900gt on the PSU if ya had enough cash layin around. it is gonna be MUCH faster than the 7600gt, 6800gt, and way, way, way faster than the 7600gs. also could get a x1800xt 256mb for about 230 on newegg. it would also be much faster than any of ur current options.

The 7600gt is just a little faster.
Since price is not important, a proper upgrade would be a 7900gt for $250AR at newegg but you'll have to get a bigger psu as well.

someone on newegg said they got much better fps on their 7600gs than with a 6800gt, and what if u take into account that the 7600gs might be better for OC'ing?

If the 7600gs could be OC'd close to 7600gt speeds, then yeah, it would beat a 6800gt. But in general, I believe only about 10% of what the newegg reviews say, because a lot of them are just BS.

If his PSU can handle a 6800GT shouldn't he be fine for pretty much anything 7xxx based? I though they all used less power than the 6800 GT and Ultra.
