Replaceing fan in 8 port switch...

I replaced the tiny heatsink/fan unit in my 8port switch yesterday with a passive heatsink that I have lying around (it was getting annoyingly loud). It turns out it only has a 30mm square heatsink/fan very similar in design of a video card cooler. Very little metal to absorb heat and a tiny like 25mm fan blade.

You guys think a heatsink of the size I put on it is suffiecent?

That HSF looks absolutely useless, so yea, I'd say the passive HS you put on there should be MORE than enough.

your switch has a fan? :Q My SMC 16 port doesnt have one....

My netgear switches don't have them either. IIRC, only the really old switches have fans in them, unless they're the big 24+ port ones
