Yesterday I replace my motherboard in my system as I wanted a better microATX motherboard for my system and now intermittently my screen will get a vertical yellow line on the left or right side of the screen when Windows begins to load until I reboot my system then it at some point will happen again if I power up my system or reboot it. The only things I replaced was my motherboard and RAM. I'm using the integrated graphics of the CPU through the HDMI connection of the motherboard. The CPU in this system is an i5-12400. The motherboard is an MSI B760M Mortar WiFi II. The motherboard in this system before this one was an MSI H610M-G DD4 WiFi, which is the stock motherboard that came with this pre-built system and I did not have that issue with that motherboard.

Double check cable connections. Both from system and at monitor.

Did you install Motherboard Drivers? Check for BIOS updates at MSI's website.

It is not the HDMI cable connection because disconnected the cable before I was testing my RAM from my main system on this system and reconnected the HDMI cable. It also happened yesterday, so it's not a loose cable connection. I'm right now testing it out using my TV as the display to see if the issue happens on the TV as well. I'm also using a different HDMI cable for the TV, so I can also rule out a bad HDMI cable and a monitor issue if it happens on the TV as well. I thought I could suspect the motherboard because I'm using the CPU's integrated graphics and the signal has to travel along the motherboard to the HDMI port on the IO panel of the motherboard and as I said earlier, the only things I changed were the motherboard and RAM (this motherboard is not compatible with DDR4 that I was using on the previous motherboard). I'm using the latest Intel Graphics drivers for the integrated graphics and the latest BIOS for this motherboard as it came with the latest BIOS.

Well, it so far it's not happening when I'm using my TV as the display and I did several reboots and power ups so far to try to get it to happen on my TV. I use an HDMI-to-DVI cable when I connected this system to my monitor as my monitor does not have HDMI inputs but has a DVI input.

Here's an update to my situation. It didn't happen when using my TV as a display connected via HDMI through my AV receiver. I bought another HDMI-to-DVI cable to see if it was the cable and reconnected my PC to my monitor with the new cable. The issue returned on the 2nd power on of my system but this time it had a mild astigmatism-like appearance to the image then it cleared itself after a reboot. One thing I noticed is that the issue doesn't show up until the Windows login screen appears, there is about a second of black screen and the issue doesn't happen after every reboot or power on or reboot as I mentioned earlier. Also on my TV I didn't get that 1 second black screen and it was instant showing the Windows login screen. So I'm narrowing it down to my monitor or motherboard that is the source of the issue.

What resolution monitor, 16/9 or 16/10? 1080 or 1200p or higher?
Also back in the day, some required dual DVI, just for an FYI.

I think I solved the issue with the intermittent yellow line on the edge of the screen on some reboots and power ups as Windows 11 loads. I had to go into the BIOS and change the "initiate graphics device" from PEG to IGD. I performed several reboots and power ups after doing this the issue has not cropped up again since changing this setting.

So far, I can say that changing the "initiate graphics device" setting to IGD has solved the issue. I use the Intel HD 730 integrate graphics and don't use a dedicated graphics card on this system.

Well this morning the issue happened again with the yellow vertical line on the right edge of the screen and a astigmatism-like image quality but this time in the BIOS and this time with a different CPU. Turning off and on the monitor and the issue is still there. I never had this issue with my previous motherboard installed in the system using this monitor. I'm using integrated graphics and that's why I'm factoring in the motherboard.

Did the BIOS reset? It's a strange problem, try the other setting. How different is the CPU? Same Model?

I tried an i5-12400 and an i3-14100 CPU on the new motherboard and as I said it still happened regardless of which CPU I installed onto the motherboard. The BIOS didn't reset by itself.

I returned the motherboard for a refund since I did not have this issue with my current motherboard with the same CPU installed and connected to the same monitor.
