Replace the connector on VGA cable

I have an older Sony flat CRT that has the wire integral. There is no way to replace the cable. I have used it so much for testing computers that the wire / connector is bad. You have to wiggle every time you want to use the computer to get the correct colors.

Can anyone advise where to buy a replacement connector and how to go about installing it?

It is a nice monitor and displays excellent images. I hate to scrap it just for this problem.

Is this a cable permanently attached to the monitor internally on the monitor side? Doesn't seem to me that that would not be repairable, in that you could clip one end from a new cable and dress/solder the wires to the board after you've pulled the back cover off.

It is possible to do it internally, but you have to destory the plastics to get it apart.

I wil thinking of just replacing the end. This way nothing has to come apart.

Ah -- design for assembly, not servicing. Sorry to hear that.

You should be able to find the male D shell connector you need at either Mouser or DigiKey, though. Make a good diagram for the wiring so you can get it all back together okay. Good luck...
