Replace pads when replacing rotors?

I can't remember ever having a vehicle I had to rebuilt a caliper on. If you bleed the brakes according to the manufacturers scheduled maintenance your calipers should last a long long time.

I had a vehicle that used plastic pistons and you had to rebuild the calipers everytime you messed with trying to push back those piston. After a brake job (done in the shop), the mechanic would always remind me about what a bitch it was to get those pistons back in their bores.

After any brake job, ALWAYS verify correct brake functioning and that goes particularly for correct caliper functioning involving correct piston retraction after brake pedal release.

The internet is amazing. A simple brake jobs ended up with a ton of suggestion. If I didn't know anything about brakes I would have been so scared to mess around with mine and just have the mechanic do it.

Yeah, no kidding. A lot of the advice when you google applies to race cars and shit like that. For someone who never brakes hard, it's not that big of a deal. I've never had any brake issues in my entire lifetime. All this talk of glazing, priming, bedding, warping etc is alien to me. I replace pads when they're low. I replace rotors when they're gone and that basically never happens. Never have squealing, vibration, uneven wear, nothing.
