Other then USB 3 support and ICH 9 Vs ICH 10, can't but wonder why you think your P67M isn't giving the performance you expect with a Sandy Bridge processor.
ICH9 hasn't been used since Intel 3 series. e.g. P35/G35/Q35

AH! You're correct, so he had ICH10 support on that P8P67M MB - I should have clued in when he noted he was running a Sandy Bridge i7 2600K - Can't remember everything - I'm still lost in the days of the VIA Apollo chip set running a Taulatin FC.

Anyway if he got an ASUS P8Z68-V Pro for $76 - I think he will be happy.
