Hi. I'd like to spend maybe ~ $150 upgrading my sli config to pump some more frames. I generally stick to a 1920x1200 setting, and my current cards boast 768mb of ram each. I can't put on anti-aliasing for any first persons though, or I die. Anistropic isn't a problem at all. So, I was wondering if I could upgrade a single card to give me cost effective (and noticeable) framerate gains. I was thinking maybe a 9800 GTX? They're on newegg for ~ $140, I'm just not sure if it'd be worth it. If so, can't I just upgrade one card, and then have them split the load accordingly?

You could SLI GTX 275 cards for less than $150 out of pocket I would think, but I don't know how much faster that would be over SLIed 8800 GTXs. It would definitely use less electricity though and would be at least a bit faster.

I don't believe there's any way to SLI your 8800 (G80) with a 9800 (G92). Even if you could, you wouldn't want to go 8800 -> 9800, as that's pretty much a sideways step.

A pair of 260s or 275s in SLI is your best bet, since you can sell your 8800s for $100-150 each, making your total upgrade cost $150ish.
 
Still seems like a lot of work for AA at 1900x1200... I wonder how many people would actually be able to tell the difference if you sat them down mid game.

Guess its good to get rid of old hardware while its still worth something though..
