Replace factory CD changer

I have a 94 lexus sc 300 that has a factory pioneer 12 disc changer that is having a lot of issues lately. Anyone know if a current pioneer cd changer would be a straight swap with the correct wiring harness connector to the factory pioneer amp? Any help would be appreciated.
 
CD changer, eh? This sounds like a great excuse to go buy an an adapter for your factory headunit that converts the cd changer input to RCA stereo plugs and then run an RCA-to-3.5mm cable from there to somewhere convenient in your center console and use an iPod.

Quick google search will find the adapter you need.
 
I'd check out Crutchfield. Not the cheapest prices (but competitive), top notch service and tech assistance, necessary adapters, etc. are included in price.

Bad news is I ran your car and model through their system and it looks to me like there is no easy fix outside of a universal changer.

If you can figure out exactly what model of changer you have (google it?) perhaps you can find an exact and cheap (if that word applies to Lexus) replacement for it on ebay. I did this on a Saab changer a while back.

Although I agree if I was doing it today a MP3 connector would have a lot more appeal to me than an external CD changer.
