Replace default Avatar

EVERY single time we see a new member join with the black guy avatar, it's usually a spammer.

I hereby suggest that we change the default avatar from the black guy to the can of spam...so that from now on, we know if the person really cares enough to change it from there or not.
 
I personally don't see why your forced to:
A. Have an avatar
B. have an avatar from such a limited group.

If I'm not able to use my own avatar, i'd greatly prefer to not have one at all.

That may be the way the Fusetalk operates.
You can remove graphics as an option if you do not the look of yourself.

One of the sillier recommendations I have yet to see.
It reminds me of the time the outfit I worked for wanted to change everyone's days off to Thursday/Friday from our normal Saturday/Sunday. Their reasoning? All the overtime has happening on Saturday/Sunday.
Duh.

Out of the (probably) hundreds of message boards i've registered for (vast majority are phpbb) this is the only one that requires an avatar.

If you do not want the avatars, then change you personal options "Discussion Interface Type" to Standard insead of using the Enhanced mode.

That change will get rid of them if they bother you so much.
Another option is to suppress graphic displays within your browser.

another vote for this. I actually think it could be considered racial since all the spammers use the black man avatar, and everyone flames on the black man. You guys could be facing lawsuits here....

to be perfectly honest, i don't think that changing the icon is going to make much of a difference. right now, it's not a racist comment to say "oh, look, it's another one of those black guys" on this board -- it's a figure of speech considering the circumstances that the individual who registered for the account did not put forth the effort to change his/her avatar -- and this is the default.

there are a number of decent individuals (non spammers) who have used the can of worms as their personal avatar, and there are a number of decent individuals (uh, UNCjigga--what?) who still use the black dude avatar as their preferred avatar.

either way, eventually, the mods here have done a good job removing the spammers within a given time frame, so i'm not sure if there's any use in going the step further and changing the default avatar to something different. we all know what to look for now, and there's no real reason (besides seeming more suitable) for change.

I think we are going for a new avatar (a can o' spam) and it is more for our amusement.
 
I've said this before, and I'll say it again. What we need is for the default avatar to be something that nobody would everactually choose. My suggestion would be a grey circle, perhaps with a beveled edge. Then, any 1 post spammer would be immediately recognized.

I think you have underestimated how many of the OT members would simply use that avatar just for the sake of it.
 
UNCJigga is the exception to the general rule, or so I've seen in ATOT. It would be for general amusement, but also to keep off the flaming of the black dude. He takes too much punishment as it is.

Probably so, but like UNCJigga, there will be one or two, but the situation would be very similar to the current one without it being a black dude. I guess it doesn't matter, it's just a suggestion.
