I need to extend my friends network so he gets better reception in one part of his house. I set it up like 2 years ago using a router flashed with DDWRT, and i had a lot of trouble with it the first time.

We just switched out his main router, and to set it up on his new network i had to reset the extender to stock DDWRT settings. Now i cant remember how i did it last time - and one of my biggest problems was i didnt know which setting to choose.

The way i had it set up was: It would pick up wifi from the main router (which was wpa2) and then it would make its own network that extended around it - which was also encrypted.

any help will be appreciated.

Wireless Bridge is used if the far away computers are connected to the Bridged wireless Router via cables.

Repeater receive the signal and transmit it further so the computer connect to it via Wireless (it also cut the signal into half).

Does the repeater create a new virtual network though? I had a problem last time for some reason with this. I think for some reason i had to choose wirelss ehternet bridge, and then create a virtual network.

Bot h Repeater and Bridge can go both way.

If you configure it correctly it will stay on the same subnet.
