Ralink is a standard chipset used by Edimax, Zonet and others.

These stick adapters work well for short to medium ranges but for long range you might want a $20+ adapter with a bigger antenna.

Have any recommendations/suggestions on such an adapter?

Vendor is also located in HK...I don't know how well/what would happen if you needed to return it. It is only $9.50 though

DX returns aren't difficult. It just takes a loooooong time. I buy small stuff from there and usually forget about my purchase until it shows up a month later. It's like a nice surprise.

Yeah the only problem I had regarding DX orders is not DX itself, but the USPS.... it was like pulling teeth with them because they had no idea what to do with EMS (Courier used by DX).

Good to hear...cuz I ordered one before realizing it was from HK. Guess I'll expect it in a month 😉 (For an iMac I have in my office, never got my Buffalo router w/ Tomato working as a wireless bridge)

ralink huh... any clue if these can be used for aircrack?

EDIT - answered my own question

There is one exception with regards to the Ralink chipsets. This is the RT73 chipset. There are excellent drivers with high injection rates for the RT73 chipset. Devices with the RT73 chipsets are recommended.

I'm in!

I've had good luck with these $23 Zonet adapters (newegg Item #: N82E16833130111)

I had something I was going to return (but never did). I would have had to send it to Florida.

The thing with DealExtreme is that almost all of their merchandise would be considered a hot deal, except for the fact that it take 2+ weeks to get to you.

It isn't a big enough of a con as I buy from there quite often for my homebrew DS apps.
