Since the camera is directly connected to the computer, you can't really put it on the Lego pieces - that seems to be the biggest gripe for ppl who bought this kit. Check on Amazon to read the reviews.

I have this rig. You *can* put it on the Lego pieces. The cable is like 15ft long... It's standard shielded USB cable and does pose issues, but they're not unsolvable.

anyone know what this camera's like?

It's a Logitech QuickCam in a Lego body. Servicable, but it's the Lego software that makes this worthwhile. :)

Motion detector!!!!

I used it to catch my wife cheating (no, I'm NOT kidding. Sigh.)

My son used it to catch Santa Claus (All he got was a video of Santa putting his hat on the camera... Muhahahahaha)

I found it in a thrift store for $5. :) But I think it's worth $50. No more, though. The $125 is outrageous, but Lego can charge it 'cuz they're Lego.

I agree, the motion detector on this rig is pretty nice. Have not used it yet, but I have played around with it. All in all, not a bad little setup. No way it was ever worth $125 though. $25, of course.

Seems kind of useless. You can get motion detector software for free on the Internet (I had a program that would FTP a picture to your website every 3 seconds once motion was detected, and then compose an avi of the frames when everything was still for 5 minutes).

I just got the Logitech Quickcam Express so can I use it with my Lego set without having to buy the Vision Command set?

I just got one today by price matching to Toys R Us (saves the S&H). My 11 year old son loves it and it is a much better camera than a Logitech QuickCam (because I got one of those too). If it's the same thing then Lego has better software.:)

if all you want is a motion detector, go to www.webcam32.com

and download the program. buy it if you like it.

It has a "motion detection" I use all the time.

I've caught co-workers stealing, guards stealing and rummaging though personal stuff. Ended up catching some night workers stealing company equipment. Fun fun....
