This would go a long way toward helping quit a good number of people...not everyone, but it's a step in the right direction nonetheless.

Trump said he is willing to keep the provisions of the law that prevent insurers from denying coverage because of a preexisting condition and that allow children to stay on their parents' health plan until they turn 26, according to The Journal.

"I told him I will look at his suggestions, and out of respect, I will do that," Trump told The Journal.

Health policy experts have told Business Insider over the last few days that Republicans do not have the filibuster-proof majority needed to repeal these parts of the law anyway.

I always found it kind of funny that Obamacare was so heavily opposed by Republican supporters, many of whom are older and consider touching social security and medicare to be a death sentence.

Other than allowing young adults to stay on their parents insurance plans until they reach 26 and accounting for pre-existing conditions, Obamacare is basically a transfer of wealth from the young to the old.
 
Yeah, he won't let them deny coverage for pre existing conditions but those who need it most won't be able to afford the premiums. So basically they lose their insurance.

With the ACA they can (yes I know the govt subsidizes them) Trump threw everyone with pre existing conditions to the death panel of insurance companies.
 
So I guess Trump's "promise" to repeal the ACA, of which helped him win the election isn't actually a promise but more like a suggestion?

I'm beginning to wonder how many other promises "suggestions" he's made will simply get ignored out of awkward convenience and loyalty to the CIC Elect. But I guess in this case it would be considered a magnanimous gesture on his part (and a kiss of death if he didn't) so all is good and the earth will keep on spinning.

Yay.

(I'm going to be having so much serious fun ragging on Trump and his escapades for the next four years). 😀
 
I'll be thrilled if they essentially gut the ACA (or get rid of it outright) and replace it with a basic trimmed down core which includes getting rid of pre-existing conditions. I've always thought health reform was absolutely needed, but we didn't need a 2000 page clusterfuck of a law like the ACA. At the same time, since it already went in, it's kind of hard to simply un-ring the bell, so a cautious approach makes a lot of sense. I'd be a lot more worried if he just said "I'm ditching the ACA in it's entirety on day 1". I know he can't do that without congress, but he can easily sink it with executive mandates and not enforcing the penalty etc which will put it to death anyway.
 
The trouble is, everyone was clamoring for health care reform. I don't know anyone who said that we DIDN'T need that. Pushing for a single-payer or universal health care system would've been political suicide, as most of the country would never agree on such a thing, so we had to come up with some kind of alternative.

Except that the alternative that we got for health care reform was just Obama writing a blank check to insurance companies. The ACA is a huge clusterfuck of a health care program and it came with restrictions that not everybody liked. Chief among them was the penalty fee. If you did not sign up for health insurance, under the ACA, you would have to pay a penalty fee for not buying their insurance. Anyone who fell on hard times and couldn't make enough money to pay for health insurance would be forced to pay that penalty in their federal tax returns. I know a lot of people that did not like that.

Now that the ACA has been around for quite awhile, I don't know how the GOP will be able to get rid of it considering that we have millions of Americans that are still on the program. Obamacare may be harder to get rid that some people would think. Insurance companies will not accept the idea of competing over state lines.

The ACA was not a black check for insurance companies considering one of its key provisions was a cap on how much could go to administrating with anything more being required to be refunded back to the customer.
 
They are threatening a filibuster, problem is they passed it via reconciliation in the first place, it can be removed using the same process.

Yes and how many broken promises or lies did Obama give us about the ACA ( Obama Care ).

The average family will save 2,500 dollars in health care.

Now I want to see what he does about enforcing our immigration laws which is one area where I differ from the party line. Ronald Reagan opened up the flood gates in 1986 when he gave out amnesty and didn't seal the borders. If you've never been along the Mexican border it's basically open and people flow across it all day every day without issue. When the Border Patrol supposedly tightened up with operation Hold the Line they flowed across the very same way and its something that I personally witnessed. Those guys don't really care either, its just a job, so they are on their job and illegals flow through like a sieve. Mexico has a massive guarded wall on their southern border with SA so why can't we also defend out border in a similar fashion to keep Mexicans in their own country? If they want to come to America let them apply for it like all other legal immigrants.

Right now Obamacare benefits a select few at the expense of many. Everyone, whether they will admit it or not knows that the legislation as it exists is crap. It must be reformed. It is going to be reformed by the current Congress. That must become an accepted fact. This means that someone's team is going to appear to "lose". That will be at the heart of the problems surrounding the reformation process. If that aspect can't be dealt with, Obamacare will collapse. There will be no replacement until our political parties can work together.

That process needs to have an end result of more winners than losers. The hurdles will be huge and I expect the biggest of those will be tort reform. Lawyers are going to lose. Lawyers make up a huge part of the political class.

I fear that our political system has become at its core, so overwhelmingly corrupt that nothing meaningful can or ever will be done. That sentiment applies to far more than the reform of Obamacare.

It doesn't look like you actually know anything the ACA, but offer up this conservative jargon salad anyway. Usually when people do that it's a good sign there isn't any subject they're knowledgeable in, so they're not even aware what they're doing is ignorant, since they have nothing to compare to. Otherwise it's trivial to see their own bullshit.

Would you argue this is an inaccurate assessment of your situation? Take some time to ponder this question carefully instead of what might come by instinct.
