I favor repealing all of them because most of them are ridiculous, and because getting rid of them would give each state better representation, rather than having the mob rule we have. If Massachusetts wants to exclude white males from voting, then they should be allowed. I really don't see a problem with states being allowed to discriminate. The Federal Government shouldn't be allowed to discriminate, but states should.

There's a reason why the Constitution originally never set voting requirements--it was because the states were supposed to have equal representation, rather than having national mob rule.

14th and 16th Amendments suck because they allow for illegal aliens and the individual income tax respectively. Also, there are too many 14th Amendment abuses in the Supreme Court.

Does anyone else see the problem with mob rule, and the overpowerment of the 10th Amendment?

I really wish the articles of Confederation was the law of the land, because you wouldn't have the illegal alien problem, you wouldn't have all this bias against race, and a whole S load of problems wouldn't exist.

Ahh, the beginning of an excellent thread.

Please, Anarchist, do not catch rabies like the other two.

That being said, I too find it sad that the 10th Amendment is basically ignored, but I am not so sure reverting back to being a confederation is the correct solution. We certainly need to have a weaker federal government and stronger state governments, but The Articles were ditched for a reason. I would really like nearly all social legislation be handled by the states. Then, our federal politicians can deal with more important issues without worrying about gun control, * rights, abortion, etc.

The problem is not the Constitution, it is the the fact that the politicians and judges take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and then go about their daily business ignoring it. Republicans and Democrats are equally to blame for this state of affairs, both parties pass laws they know likely violate the Constitution in hopes that the Courts will validate what they have done through some penumbra. The one amendment I would most like to see undone is the 17th. That would return some power back to the states that they never should have voluntarily given up.

This. Politicians seem to ignore the Constitution and throw anything and everything at it and hope it sticks.

lol, they wouldn't exist because the US would have unraveled a few years after going back to the Articles.

The main problem is that the constitution is being completely ignored.

Look at prohibition.
It took a constitutional amendment to prohibit liquor and then another constitutional amendment to repeal the first.

Now the federal government just passes laws to prohibit something or uses tax dollars as political favors to force states to do something.

There were too many problems with the Constitution to begin with. It protected slavery, it allowed one region to get a free ride at the other's extreme expense, and ultimately the civil war. It provides for patent laws, and allows for too powerful of a military. It allows for the borrowing of money.

I personally would've been fine had it been more specific about things (general welfare and interstate commerce clause), if it set a limit on the military and if it only allowed for excise taxes and a uniform, revenue tariff (10% or less), but it's too vague. They should've had Jefferson write it, because everyone (except the protectionists) would've agreed to it then.

If you ask nicely, I'm fairly confident the Queen will take you back. Y'all gave it a good shot, but let's face it, it didn't work out. :(

This is utterly ridiculous.

I really don't see a problem with states being allowed to discriminate. The Federal Government shouldn't be allowed to discriminate, but states should.

No level of government should ever be allowed to discriminate. Government should be blind to race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc. Even wealth, IMO.
