repairing scratched DVD?

I have a DVD that would bairly play, once it would start I'd get tonbs of artifacts and it would crap out. So I tried the toothpaste method, it seemed to help somewhat but it still wouldn't play more then a minute. The Disc has what looks like a ton of scratches but they seem to be very light, just way too many of them. One of my neighbors use to work somewhere that had an industrial disc cleaner and it was amazing. But he's moved, and I'm not sure where to look to find a store that would do this, even if they charged 5 bucks I'd be fine as I can't find a new replacement disc for this movie. Any ideas??

i dunno if it works on plastic ok....
just some polishing compound i guess.
or one of those disc polish/scratch remover/cleaner machines assuming it does more than rub it with a damp sponge.
 
I had one of the Skip Doctor repair kits and it stunk, the good ones are like $150+ bucks, too much for me to drop. I'm going to try some Brasso or something similar good idea. just read somewhere else to use Pledge can't hurt to try.
 
Hollywood video DOH! why didn't I think of a video rental store, damn thanks Scott916 I have one right up the street too. I will call and see if they do it and how much.
 
My local video rental store has a machine that they will use to fix your dvd's. Its not just a cleaning machine, it is a a resurfacer. They charge less than 10.00 per disc.
Check with your local video stores.

EDIT: I just read the previous post. So I guess you already know.
