Repairing Dead/Fixed Pixels on an LCD??

Someone on Off Topic alluded to people having success 'massaging' a fixed pixel on a laptop LCD to get it working again. The user did not reply to my follow-up, so I was wondering if anyone here has ever heard of this. Or if anyone's actually tried this. Is this really possible? If so, how??
Thanks

I did that one an lcd on a dell laptop, the pixle went pink so i just started to massage it and it went away. After thou a few more came and massaging did nothing. I dont know if it completly worked in the long run cause the laptop is no longer in my possesion.

LCD's are allowed up to certain number of dead pixels per square inch for some reason. Only the most expensive LCD's will be guatanteed 100%. Most laptop manufacturers will warranty these anyway, but they have very little recourse with the LCD manu's.

massaging a pixel is one of the most ridiculous things ive ever heard. the reason your pixels appear a different color is because one of the transistors in the pixel is busted, not because the pixel is in need of a massage.

Crazy as it sounds, I've fixed two customers LCD's by heating the LCD or "massaging" the screen. It's not very technical and a dead circuit is a dead circuit, but sometimes presure can restore or improve an LCD.

LCD panel is just like CRT tube. If it's defective, there is nothing you can do about it except replacing it. I learned this from my boss. He fixes CRT/LCD monitors for wholesalers

You're not making much sense there. How can he fix them if there's nothing you can do except replace them??? LCD's and CRT's are not at all the same. LCD's IMO should be easier to fix. They have backlights that have a limited life that can be replaced (from what I understand) pretty easily.

Actually massaging dead pixels can sometimes work. It all depends on how it failed.

If its just a broken connection than massaging will usually revive the pixel. I've did this successfully on 3 LCDs with dead pixels. It worked on nearly every dead pixel.
