REPAIR WINDOWS XP EXPLORER.EXE

Whenever I open a window, I get an Explorer.exe error. Also, whenever I start Internet Explorer, the window automatically closes.
How do I repair explorer.exe from the Windows XP CD?

Edit:
Fixed!! Uninstalled Kazaa and no more errors.

go to RUN and type:

sfc /scannow
if that does not work then put your XP in the CDROM drive and boot from it. choose the option that says repair. if you do not have a repair disk then have XP LOCATE your XP installation. do a manual repair and hopefully you will be fine.

<< go to RUN and type:sfc /scannow >>

you actually have to run that from the command prompt so go to run & type cmd, then type in sfc /scannow. you'll need your XP cd! 🙂

found out winXP and winME were infected with the nimda virus. Reformated and reinstalled. However, still getting explorer.exe error when typing into the Run box, IE address bar, etc.

You probably reinfected the machine. Download an antivirus program and clean the machines, including all floppy and removable media.

Download a nimda fix tool from Symantec or similar - nimda is an easy fix. Just run the tool and your done. Worst thing that might happen is that you need to reinstall Office to fix a damaged riched20.dll. Then get your Windows Updates so it can't happen again.
