Repainting a Car

Two thousand dollars won't buy much of a paint job these days. The kind of work I expect would run $5K-$20K depending upon condition of the car and bodywork required. This is why I do all my own paint jobs. I get the quality I expect and only spend $500-1000 on the materials.....yes the materials alone for a decent job will be almost a grand.

That's the cost of the freaking car

its not worth the money to paint a 5-6k car

my dad won't even consider painting a possiblity on a car unless he thinks he can get 20+K out of the car restored otherwise whats on it better be good enough

How much do paint jobs cost the factory that build the cars?
A lot less. The car is painted before it's assembled at the factory, which means they have essentially zero prep work.

The expense in painting a car is in the fact that it essentially has to be completely dis-assembled to be painted properly.

Just make sure the car you are working on does not have to bedis-assembled THIS far or you can expect to pay a boatload of cash.
