Renting a place with current U-Verse account

I am about to sign a contract on a town home, but when I look up the availability for ATT U-Verse to create an account, the website says the address is already associated with an account.

Is there a way I can gain access to this account via ATT? If not, the site manager said she can contact the previous people about it if she has to. I figure it would be easier to reclaim it through ATT though.

Ideas?
 
If you can provide proof that you reside at the address you should be able to get ATT to cancel their account.
