I have this aspiration to build a Factory Five Mk3 Roadster but I currently rent and dont have space or a garage to build. Is there such a thing as a garage for rent at a commercial establishment? I can imagine a personal residence might be willing but I'm not sure I'd completely trust an individual I dont know to store my kit. So anyone know of anything like what I'm looking for? I live in Orange County, CA so I'm guessing I'm not going to find much around here.

I've heard some car clubs have a "communal garage" for use by members, but no idea how common this might be.

It's pretty common around here. There are a few widows around here that rent their 2 car garages out. You keep the keys and have the only access to it. Some go for around $100 a month, but that usually includes use of the electricity. (As long as your not doing some heavy-duty welding ;) )

In the Frisco area there are garages where you can rent space andalso have the use of the tool cage all for a flat fee, either by the hour, day, week or month. They have lifts you can use as well for an added fee.

Most people who rent there garages out forbid any car-repairs from happening as they do not want to be responsible for hauling your POS car and parts and your related oil spills out of their garage. They want people who use them as storage and who are not on their property till 12am cussing and drinking beer.

If you don't have a garage now, where do you plan on storing it when its streetable?

Hopefully by the time it would be completed I would be moved into a new place with garage. I doubt this whole idea is going to work out anyway, but I was just evaluating my options for now.

One of the members of my GTO club owns a business with a massive garage. He allows members to use it to store and work on cars for about $50 a month.
