Is it possible to rent a digital camera for a short period of time, say, a week? I'm going to Spain in February and I would like a camera to take with me so I can snap some pics of my own. Are there places that rent cameras? I don't need anything special, a point-and-shoot would suffice.

Well, the problem is I have little money, so buying one is out of the question. I guess I should just ask relatives and friends?

how much are you looking to spend?

iirc, i've never heard of a place renting a standard p&s camera. plenty of places rent SLRs, but for a week you might as well buy one.

You can definitely rent a camera... just go to a better camera store (not a chain) and ask if you can rent a camera.

Well considering that I'm a high school student working part time and I just paid $2500 to go to Spain, and factored in spending money, I think I'm good to go. :p Thinking about a digi cam was kind of an afterthought.

$300?!?! You can get an elcheapo Canon for $150 and an even cheaper HP or Kodak for $100. I think I saw some Vivitar 4MP thing at Walmart for like $80.

or just get a film camera

if you want cheap for just a few images you can't beat film with a stick.

get this
in terms of sheer image quality it can't be beat. and for the price of even the most craptastic digicam you will be able to shoot and print hundreds of pictures. and it's all weather. and you can get film and batteries for it in even the most backward of places (not that spain is backwards).
