Those of you who are renters, do you have renter's insurance, and if so how much did it cost, and
what does it cover?

Umm, 120 a year with Allstate. Covers basically everything. Just scared of getting robbed or the building burning down or somethign. College student, one bedroom apartment. Probably like 10k stuff at most.

Mine's around $170 per year with State Farm, but I've got around $15K-20K in coverage. Granted, I don't have that much, but better safe than sorry.

Mine is from Allstate too, and it's about $180/yr for a $20K policy in my area/building.

We have ourrs through Nationwide and pay $200 a year maybe? This includes riders for our laptop and jewelery

Mine is $10 a month added to my car insurance. ($120 a year or so)

I have no idea what the limits are, but Nationwide has never let me down yet.

If you are a renter, by all means get renter's insurance. So many people think that, if the apartment building burns down, their stuff is covered and that isn't true. Any insurance the owner has covers HIS property, not yours. As many have already posted, coverage is cheap - a lot cheaper than paying to replace all your belongings.

As posted above I am signed up and ready, good to know that all my "toys" or as the insurance
company says "movable objects" are covered. $169/year is really a small price to pay for peace of mind!

renters insurance is one of the few insurance products that isn't a complete ripoff.

yeah mine is 20 bucks a mounth to cover my 3 bedroom place but I get a 20 dollar discount on my auto insurance so its basically free

Yes I have. It covers $80k for less than $200/year.

I'd suggest it althought I never had it.

Watched the news last weekend and an apartment building went up in flames. 12 families in the building and only 3 or 4 had insurance. On top of that, most of the families are still locked into their lease right now and they company is saying they wont budge on that. The new crews was having the lease examined to see if there was a way to get out but it wasn't looking good for those people.

wtf? are you saying that even after the building burned down and the families have to move out, they still have to pay for the rest of their lease period?

highly recommended. mine's through Allstate. They had alot better quote than State Farm.

$131/yr for ~$40k coverage w/ a $250 deduct.

I can't see that happening. The owner can't meet their end of the contract by providing an apartment.

Get it, why should you be responsible for replacing everything when your stupid next door burn the whole apartment complex down to the ground? (Without renter's insurance, you'd be screwed)

totally don't remember my limits, but it is only 200 a year after my triple A discount.

Paying about $160/yr. I forget the exact coverage values. The really nice part was that it was through State Farm. Same as our car insurance. By getting renters insurance, it lowered our car insurance by about $180/yr. Quite a nice deal.
