Rented a jet ski today. Man, that was fun!

It was a 2006 Yamaha Waverunner, sucker would do 50mph and could ride 3 people. I went with my wife and son. We had a blast. They wanted us to stay under 45mph so the max I saw was 46. I did some sharp turns and gunned the throttle. Blasting over the wake of other boats was fun too. I took it easy with the family on there though. I only went crazy by myself. 😀

Still, I don't see why people buy these things. They cost $7,500 plus fuel, maint., a trailer, vehicle registration, insurance, plus you need a vehicle to haul one around with. I can rent one for $125 for 2 hours which is way more time than I could probably spend on one anyway. You'd literally have to spend every weekend out on the water before buying one would be worthwhile.

I'd do it again though. :thumbsup:

you're right but i go to lakes/rivers 2-6 times a week and it pays off. the gas is great compared to boats plus what i do behind it doesn't require a huge wake. if i want to wakeboard then i have buddies with malibu VLX's😉

Thanks Double Post! 😉 Thought I forgot about that huh?

They are a lot of fun. My point is you'd really have to use it quite frequently to justify the cost. Boats are a huge money pit. Comparatively a jet ski would be much cheaper to operate.

I'm getting a motorcycle though. No jet skis in my future. :laugh:
 
When growing up we had two and we lived on waterfront.
After school I'd hop on the seadoo for a spin...high school life was amazing 🙂

It's this feeling over time that justifies the cost of one.

Think about it. You paid $125 for 2 hours; the guy you rented from will pay the costs 10fold in a given season.😛
 
Haha, buy some jet skis, rent them out, profit!! (Until someone breaks their leg and sues your ass).

Sounds like a load of fun though.

No kidding. I was flying full throttle over the water at almost 50mph shouting, "YEAH!!!" a couple times today with a big grin on my face.

Still, I don't think I'd ever buy one.
 
My wife and I bought one at the end of the season in 2002. Seadoos are great for just going to the lake for a hour or two. Easy to tow too.

Now we have a boat. Much better for skiing and spending time with friends.

I own 5 currently.. 2 standups for the wife and i, 2 sitdowns for when the kids go out with us, and 1 other sit down im selling. They don't cost 7500.00 unless you get new.. Who doesn't have a truck or other tow vehicle? They don't require insurance unless you financed them but its a good idea and insurance is cheap. And yes, i spend most weekends on the water during the summer because its good excercise and its fun

I have a cousin who lives on a lake and goes seadoo'ing pretty much every day during the late spring / summer / early fall.

What is cool is that he made a few mods to the engine and runs ethanol instead of gasoline...ethanol is much better for the ecology (not that the lake isn't already pretty far gone).

I have 2 Honda Aquatrax.

1235cc one is a turbo one is not.

I love them they are great fun out on the lakes, rivers or ocean.
