rented a 2013 Tahoe

the Tahoe is made for 5 people + gear, or 7 people, not 7 people and gear, unless you get a hitch basket or top carrier.

Actually it looks like 8 people. But what is the point in renting an 8 passenger vehicle, usually done from an airport, if you can't fit any of their luggage in there too?

The OP probably got one with all the seats in place and why he noticed its limited cargo capacity. I was just pointing out that, when all seats are up, it has much less than a full size car, just like the OP said.

And the full size car will not seat 8 people either.

The Tahoe will seat 5 and have more luggage room. Or seat 6 and put the extra luggage on the seat/floor where someone would sit.

Yes. It says with all seats up. With all seats up, there is less cargo capacity in the Tahoe, as the OP mentioned. So, you can carry three more people, but no luggage for them. What the hell is the point of that?

A C6 Corvette coupe has 22 cubic feet of trunk space. Why would someone be retarded enough to get a Taurus? D:

Oh wait, that's ridiculous argument.

I guess facts agitate people here. OP made an observation. All I did was back up that observation with facts. In the configuration he likely received it in, it does have less cargo capacity than a fill sized car. That explains why he noticed it. Not sure what's wrong with that.

The rest of my OP was obvious opinion. If you need help deciphering that, well, good luck with that. But here's a hint:

The Tahoe is a status symbol and a terrible one at that. Completely impractical POS from Chevy.

unless he folded down the seats, then ya know, cargo galore

I mean how impractical is the Taurus that it holds 5 people and less cargo than a Tahoe?

total status symbol 😛

ps. that's why they make the Tahoe xl/surbuban. haul an army *and* their gear 😀

And a boat as well. 🙂

One could fold down the seats in a full size car and get cargo galore. One could also buy/rent a pickup truck and get cargo galore. One could also buy/rent a van and get people and/or cargo galore.

I, like the OP, want to know what exactly is special about the Tahoe?

And then the Car could not hold 5 people after that. Yet the Tahoe can hold 5 easy and more luggage AND tow a boat at the same time.

The Tahoe does ALL of what a full size car can do and more.

So can my truck.....

So can a van.

Both are likely cheaper too.

A Tahoe is an all around multi-purpose vehicle.

  • Can hold eight adults without cramping.
  • Decent ground clearance
  • Towing capability
  • Luggage Rack usually built in
  • Decked out units can have everything but the kitchen sink

A crew cab truck does not have the adult capacity; covered luggage is with additional bad cap.

A full size sedan does not have the adult capacity, ground clearance nor towing capacity.

A minivan with the adult capacity does not have concurrent luggage capacity, ground clearanc nor the towing capacity.

but who buys these things???
texans and the occasional oklahoman who has just gotten his lease bonus for the year and didn't spend it on birth control for his sister. there's a reason the plant is in arlington across the street from jerryworld.

wut?

The Tahoe is pointless for capacity with the seats up. A Ford Taurus has over 3 more cubic feet of cargo capacity.

Tahoe: 16.9 cu. ft.
Taurus: 20.1 cu. ft.

The Tahoe is a status symbol and a terrible one at that. Completely impractical POS from Chevy.

Wow, somehow the Grand Cherokee is killing the Tahoe for cargo space...

CARGO CAPACITY, ALL SEATS IN PLACE 36.3 cu.ft.

I wonder how that can be? :hmm:

CARGO CAPACITY, ALL SEATS IN PLACE 17.2 cu.ft.

Durango. So clearly, this is with the third row of seats in place, and the SUVs actually have lots more cargo capacity than a Taurus.

2 in front, two rows of seats, three across; plenty of hip room.

Unless there is now confusion between what is a Sport Tahoe and a regular Tahoe

an adult can barely fit in the 3rd row alone without being cramped. the only adults that can fit 3 across in the 3rd row would be midgets or jockeys.

The Tahoe just was redesigned, right? I'd imagine if you slipped into the new one it would be a lot better.
