Your cookie cutter apartment building with 8 ft ceilings and clearly segregated rooms is not a loft.

Nor is it a townhouse or a condo.

It's a fucking apartment.

Stop listing it as such and cluttering up my searches.

And if I see one more listing with the same template layout with the same damn pictures with a different price and square footage figures and the same stupid jackass grinning at me at the bottom, I'm going to contact your locating service just to kick you in the nuts.

and now for the productive part of the thread, any recommendations for looking up Austin rentals besides rent.com and craigslist?

If someone owns the individual unit then it is a condo, or a town house.

you're correct when it comes to a condo, but generally a townhouse means no neighbors above or below you, not 3rd story apartments

also, i'm pretty sure the apartment locator people are contacted by apartment complex managers, not individual condo owners looking to rent out their unit
 
I sympathize with the OP. A floorplan, pics, or even both(?!?!) of the actual apartment would obviously be really helpful. It can't be that hard to include these on an ad..
