does rent a center sell used laptops?
my sister came home today with a laptop from her boyfriend and he said he got it from someone that bought it used from rent a center.

considering the source, i wouldn't doubt it's stolen.

it still has a rent a center id tag on the bottom of it.

checked the website and i guess they do rent to own type stuff so maybe it's legit.
 
Yes they do.
If someone rents something then returns it they just rent it to someone else.
Very rarely you can actually get a deal in those places. If someone kept a tv for most of the time to pay it off, you can get it for the time that is remaining.
 
yeah but there rent to own price is insane....imagine paying like 150% for an item heh. use a credit or something, then pay that back at the end of the month.

just goto your local store.
 
i'm not going to use them. i already it's mostly a scam. i was just wondering the validity of purchasing a laptop from them as i suspected the one my sister received was possibly stolen.
 
You will pay upwards of double the retail for stuff through them, but they don't cater to the credit worthy crowd either. They are just one step above a loan shark.
I walked into one just out of curiosity. They wanted to sell me a 42" Panasonic LCD for $34 a week for 72 weeks.

Even if it's not legit, it's not like the rental contract would be transfered to your sister's boyfriend if he got it from someone else illegally. Kind of a stupid move on the dude who sold it's part, in my opinion.

yeah the plasmas ate $100/month. For a year. Horrible deal. Hell, if you can afford $100/month wait 6 months and buy one!

He's not questioning that it came from Rent-a-Center, it has a Rent-a-Center tag on it. He's trying to figure out if it was purchased from RAC or stolen from RAC or a RAC customer.
