Renaming processor in registry to overclocked speed???

Is there a way to rename the speed of a processor in the regsitry so that the overclocked speed appears in Windows "System Properties"?? If you use regedit and rename it, the name is changed back when you reboot. RRR

WHY?? So when the 12 year old techno head next door comes over to see my 1.6@2.4 is says 2.4!!!!!!!!!! OK??

The Processor String is provided by the processor and not by the Registry.

The batch file things does work, Had to do it on a system that would also show the , INtel x86 class family crap, instead of Intel Pentium III. (yes I am anal). Just put in all users startup folder.

When he comes over just start up CPU-Z and show him this way.

i will also vouch for the batch file trick. i did this a while back too when I didnt want to see p4 - 1.8, and instead wanted a 2400 MHz listing.

good luck! 🙂

Once you figure it out, you should set it to something like 2000Ghz and skip the actual overclocking. That's sure to impress the kids.
