Removing the front bezel from Antec KS-188

The HD light popped out somehow, and the only way I can put it back in the front bezel hole, is to remove the entire front.. and I've never done this, so I'm afraid of ruining it. Is the bezel supposed to pop off easily? Since I have to do this anyway, I went and picked up a blue LED to replace the orange LED, and was also wondering which is the best way to hook it up to the wires. Soldering or twisting? Thanks 🙂

Haha, I agree 🙂

Thanks a lot !

Wow! Nice article man! I've been wanting to modify this nice case, but have been too chicken to do it cause I'm in the middle of saving for a video card 🙂 Thanks again

Hey Ed!

PliotronX,

Remove the bezel--four snap-in clips/tabs[two on top by the 3 1/2 bay, then two on the side(about 2/3 of the way up)]. Pull them back slightly, first the top two--hold onto the top of the bezel(to keep it from popping back in) as you release the other two tabs. It should come right off, don't be startled when the 5 1/4 bay covers slide down--they aren't held in a specific spot on the bezel--you'll see what I mean. Check out what I did to my side panels to make removal easier--see the link in my sig.

Good Luck! Be careful like Gideon sain.

Looked at your pics (nice job) but didn't see anything about a mod to make sides easier to remove. I have the same case so I'm real interested in mods to it.

Doooooood! Sweet! It popped off easily and attached just as easily 🙂 I used some needle nose pliers to remove the orange LED with attached wire out of the little plastic bulb "seat" which goes into the front, lobbed off the wire, soldered this blue LED I got from RadioSnack, assembled, and now my HD light glows blue when it's workin! yaY~! 😀 Thanks guys 🙂

Those mods you've done to your cases look mouthwatering! You could win some awards for them 🙂

GideonX,

I hate to say this, but I sold my case a few days ago. After putting all that work into it.....I am regretting it right now, it's weird not seeing it on my desk.

I am replacing it with an SX1030...it won't be the same.
