Our gaming cafe has game images on a server that all the boxes access to mount the images , so the games can play without the cd/dvd.

I noticed that when I was trying to make a path to the images with CureRom I needed to give a username, pass to gain access to the path.

How can I make sure this is removed, because the shared folder does not need to be password protected.

This is the path:
\\Your-e792d0211c\GAMEIMAGES

On the shared folder at the moment I just set it to full access will this help?

THANKS

That may help. Usually when i get the popup for user/pass I just hit enter. If it's not set to anything I get through just fine.

Someone mentioned enable the guest account and give them read only access to that share.

And personally I thought we had it set to guest with read only, hmmm

I'm not at work, I'll check that when I get there and see what it says.

THANKS

Here is a screenshot of it:

Not sure "Everyone" is a real name to put, LOL, I thought you'd have to make it like, "Users" or "Guests", but if you just want anyone to use it what should I put?

I suck with Networking, LOL, but when the people log into the computers for gaming, they are logged in under the Administrator account, there are no guest accounts, but the Cafe software we use handles security so there is no problem.

So if they are logged in as the Admins, then why would there end up being a password on the shared directory? I don't believe anyone password protected it. If they did how can I just remove it?

THANKS

You also generally do not want to do full control, as then the misc guest users can change the security rights on the server too. I would stop at read/write/modify, assuming I didn't think the general user will start adding things in the folders... Have you tried mapping the drives? You can then add an option to reconnect at logon, and I beleive you can also select a "Remember me" option at that point too...

As far as the admin thing goes, the admins are all local, meaning they have complete control over just their own computer, not each other.

I thought all you had to do was either not have a password on the boxes, or use the same username and password on all of them as the same, then when making a directory shared you won't be prompted?

If all boxes are logged in under the username account as "Administrator" with a password, then under the "Share Permissions" what name do you add in?

THANKS

Is this true?

I guess also on our main box I can just remove the password, I don't really see any need for it on this system in this cafe I work at, then the other boxes shouldn't be needing the password to access it since I removed it.
