Removing Norton Software from PC

I'm cleaning a computer for a friend from malware, viruses etc. They have Norton Antivirus/Cleaner 2002 which came with the PC, but I can't find a way to remove it.

The Norton Icon is on the task bar but won't open gives an error.
Add/Remove programs doesnt show it installed. Only thing in there is Live symantic Reg but won't let me remove it because its used by Norton Antivirus/Cleaner.

I can't find a uninstall.exe inside the program files/symactec folder...

Any ideas?

Edit: It has Systemworks, found a guide to removing it from Symatec and its very painfull

you might as well reformat. it'll be faster and better. and the damage that norton does cannot be easily undone. also, b/c of all the malware you described, i think formatting and installing windows will be the best option.

yeah thanks i found it.

Took me about an hour to remove it out, had to check the registry deleted lots of stuff manually.

Then it broke the internet connection. I found a fix for that on Microsoft's website.
