Removing Items From the System Tray In Win2k

I know, I know. This must have been discussed before but, for the life of me, I can't find a mention anywhere on how this is done. I know how it's done in Win9x but I'm still a little new to Win2k and haven't been able to spend a lot of time to figure it out.
I even went to *gasp* MS's website for help. Anyway, figured this would be an easy one for ya'll.

Most programs have an option somewhere in the preferences to disable this option.. It doesn't have anything to do with windows. If ya are trying to stop programs from starting at boot up download a little program called startup.cpl..
