removing hyperX heatspeaders

i want to find out what kind of chips i have under there, i can get the clips off but i cant pull the blue spreaders off

any easier way? a program perhaps?

I think there was one program that helped remove the heatsink but I forgot the name. Try googling.

? There are programs that remove difficult viruses and spyware. Heatsinks should be no harder.

I'd say somewhere out there the knowledge is around as to what's under the heatspreaders. I wouldn't risk ruining the RAM just to find out.

snoop around on the net for a bit before you give in and rip the spreaders off.

You can probably gently pry it off one of the chips to get at least the brand of chip used.

If it overclocks (fsb wise) well then who cares what kind of chips are on there. If it doesn't oc well then it also doesn't matter, just get some new stuff.

I took mine off and as i was prying the heatspreader off, the clip on the top nicked a tiny resistor or capacitor(not sure which) and almost completely knocked it off, rendering it unusable. Luckily I was able to superglue it back on and it has worked flawlessly ever since. One day I may actually solder it on properly, but as of now I see no reason to. Besides that, it is so tiny I would rather not try to solder it. It could have been an expensive mistake, and one which did not need to happen, although I really did want to know what chips I had.

Just be careful when prying them apart, and do not bend it back and forth like it is on a hinge, because that is what I did and that is how I knocked off the smd.

BTW, my HyperX PC3500 was indeed BH5 .
