Removing Enermax intake fan??? Update

Senior member
I installed an enermax 350w variable control ps and my case temps have gone +6 and cpu temp from 39 to 42c.
Is this normal? Is the second fan of the enermax sucking the cool air away from the hs/f?
AK31
2-24cf panaflo's
1.4 athlon
Before the PS switch I had this running at a cool 27/39-40.
This is not good

Opinions??

I'm either going back to previous PS or I'm wondering if turning off the Enermax intake fan will hurt the PS?

Comments??

Interesting, my Enermax had the opposite effect (reducing ~3-5C). How is your case circulation setup? How many HDD, CDD do you have?

CD rom on top, HD in the middle and CDR under that. Ribbons and wires are neatly tucked out of the way. Same arrangement as before the ps switch.
I use a Volcano7 which is humming louder also.
This is not good...

Does that PSU let you reduce the fan speed? Could it be that you're actually running lower than your older PSU? Did your older PSU have two fans (one to draw off heat from the mobo+ one to expel it)?

The other PS had only one fan. This enermax has a variable speed "riostat" thingy on it. I was thinking of trying both of the 24cfm panaflo's as intake. Right now 1 is exhaust and 1 intake.

?????

Well I turned the other panaflo around, both are intake.
Now case temp says 36, cpu 42.
I'm going backwards?
Wanna buy a 350w enermax?

If this is idle temp, who cares if it has gone up? It would make sense that temps might go up during idle as the fans are spinning more slowly. The question is what are your temps under full load, and whether these values are lower than with your previous setup?

FWIW, I have an Enermax 431w PSU(the 451PVE), the 92mm intake fan got noisy on me and I never got around to replacing it, instead I just removed it entirely. Runs fine as far as I can tell, the 80mm fan in the back seems to be running a little faster more often (and that might as well be my imagination) but that's about it.

I actually just re-enabled that fan. My CPU temps went up around 5c which wasn't a real problem till I started running United Devices client to fight cancer(and to gain extra gigs for Easynews🙂 It really isn't that loud even though it's the only non-Panaflo fan in my system.

Update. I went back to 1 intake and 1 exhaust with the 24cfm panaflo's.
I removed a second CD rom from the top bay and neatly tucked ALL excess wires from the PS in there.
I removed the intake fan on the enermax.
So far temps are 28/38 with the Volcano7 purring at 3100rpm
1.4 Athlon@1.65v

Ah, so far so good, nice and quiet.....

Comments always still welcome
