removing drives from a XP JBOD array?

In my video server I have a 4 drive JBOD array, just using the XP disk management to do it (no raid card). It's got a pair of 80s and a pair of 200s, and it's about half full (dvd storage)

I'd like to remove one or both of the 200s to use elsewhere (my video editing machine has a raid5 with 3x 200gig drives and I'd like to get some more space there), and stick some 160s in there that I just got. If I cleared off enough space (ie 200 gig free or 400 gig free), can I remove a drive from the jbod without losing the rest? I know XP can add drives anytime, but how about removing?

If it is possible, how do I tell physically which drive I removed in software? The 200s are identical and I don't remember how I set them up ages ago 🙂

The really short answer: No, you can't.

If you have spanned the filesystem across all four drives to create one large drive it will corrupt if you remove one.
