Ok i have a Dell Dimension L566xc computer. I got the one side of it off, but i cant seem to get the other side off. I need to replace the CD-ROM with a CD-RW. Anyone know how to take it off?

you can find out from dell's support. go there and enter your service tag info, and get the docs/pdf instructions.

You mix up the c and x in the model number? I only see Dimension L (bla) cx on the support page

From the dell support page:
To remove the bezel, perform the following steps:

Remove the computer cover.

While facing the front of the computer, press in the bezel release tab the top of the chassis.

Swing the bezel away from the chassis, disengage the two retaining hooks at the bottom of the bezel, and carefully pull it away from the chassis.

To replace the bezel, fit the two bezel retaining hooks into their corresponding slots on the chassis. Rotate the bezel toward the chassis until the bezel latches into position.

If it's anything like the XPS Rxxx series cases, you'll have to remove the front panel before you can remove the other side, I think.

I didn't know you could even do that. Will the mobo support the CD-RW?

huh?

Is the CD-RW from a different model laptop? Will the mobo support it or does it use standard IDE?

Pretty sure that it's a desktop system, not a laptop.

Oh, I automatically assumed that it was a laptop since I didn't think people here used Dell desktops. 😉
