Is there an easy way to remove the background color in this pic so I can insert it in a word doc and it will have a clear background?

With the left side edited in Paint, which would take forever:

In case you have access to Power Point, colors can be made transparent. This feature moves around in the different Power Points, but it has been there for a few versions.

I'll try that, thanks.

I even took the time to work on the pixels around the letters, though I could have spent more time.

I didn't straighten the image through.

edit:
Straightened up a bit.

Can't see it at work. Let me disconnect form my network and use Android tether.

EDIT
Looks good too, thanks!

They can't do it either. We use Microsoft Paint... I tried to install Paint.net but I don't have admin rights.
I am supposed to be getting Photoshop Elements but it take 6 to nine months to get software.
I did hear they are dropping Lotus Notes in favor of Outlook.

There's still a lot of artifacts left. They really show up with my dark AT theme.

If you paint the walls in the basement green or blue this would be a lot easier.

There's a ton of flaws with the image, and I can see them with a light background.
I just didn't have the patience to bring that image into a higher-quality range, just for the fun of it. I'm not that bored. ;)

I also didn't think it was a worthwhile image to spend that much time on, considering how aliased and rife with artifacts the image was thanks to compression.
It should be turned into a vector image, but there should have been one from the start.
