removing an LED from a circuit

can i just rip it off, and have the circuit still work? i'm trying to disable the LED on my webcam...

In most cases it shouldn't matter. Worse that happens, you have to put it back in

if it's in series with some other components you'll have to complete the circuit.

Depends on the LED. "Standard" is 2V @ 20mA, give or take.

You'll probably have to put a resistor in in place of the LED.
