Remove write protection

Hey guys I just bought a cheap mp3 player and I downloaded some songs off the internet. When I try to save them to the mp3 player I get an error that cannot save remove write protection. Does anyone know how I can remove the write protection without burning a CD?
 
Operating on the assumption that you have downloaded them to a system, remove the write protection on the files at the system level.
 
right click on file/folder->Properties
Uncheck read only.
The problem could be that you have the files opened elsewhere in a media player, in which case, just close the program and try to transfer agian.
