Remove Songs of Innocence from your account

I'd like to know how to get Songs of Innocence in my iTunes account - it doesn't show up in the library like they say it should! I've got an active account - I don't understand the issue.

It did the same for me. Go under "Recently Added" and you'll see it there.

Can't view this at work, but I will likely do this when I get home.

Personally, I am a bit disappointed Apple went with U2, even with their previous "collaboration". It just feels far too safe of a choice, and that is something I think Apple shouldn't be doing.

Should they have done Beyonce? Doesn't fit their family friendly image.
One Republic? They suck just as much as U2, but don't have nearly as much of an established reputation.

I don't think they could have done this with anyone else. Not just because of Apple's relationship with the band, but face it, they're huge.

Or you could do what Microsoft did with XP and include songs from crappy bands no one's ever heard of, but that certainly isn't Apple.

They could have gone with something a lot more edgy and Apple like. Beyonce and One Republic aren't Apple, and neither is U2. I guess I just like their original imagery (1984 commercial and all) a lot more than this "safe, family friendly Disney BS" they've become.

You still haven't really answered either question. How is U2 not Apple, and what band is?

Since the creation of iTunes, when have they not been family friendly?

I'm happy to see I'm not the only ones who think U2 is a terribly overrated band. 😀
their "electric" period (zooropa, lemon, etc) was very good in my opinion. when the old fans started abandoning them. everything up to just before the tomb raider song, really liked them.

Apple should be about doing something different and better than the rest. Evolving the medium they are a part of, be it music, computers, smart phones, whatever. Picasso is an Apple artist. Mozart? Jimi Hendrix? Early hip hop artists like Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, Curtis Blow. Those are Apple. A musical artist that has changed the way a generation listens to music? Skrillex. Regardless of your opinions on dubstep (and I don't know them), you can't argue the cultural impact he has had on mainstream music. That is Apple.

U2 is generic, corporate safe rock. The board of directors would sign off on U2 being played at a corporate sponsored event. That same board wouldn't sign off on Apple or their early vision. They are completely unApple.

Problem is, I don't think any of them are releasing a new album any time soon.

And Skrillex is a worse choice than U2. Both in listenability and popularity. No one's going to be listening to a fad artist a few years from now, and that isn't Apple.

iTunes does release free singles featuring newer artists every week, but no one who's worthy of playing at an iPhone launch. Foo Fighters, maybe.

Just wanted to update this problem, in case anyone had the same issue. I finally figured out that I had to have a credit card on file to get the album. Previously, I had simply used iTunes gift cards to make purchases, and never put a credit card on file, for security reasons. When I finally added a credit card to my account, Apple gave me the album. I find that requirement to be pretty lousy. Screw you, Apple.

Man, Apple have some dumb ideas some time. In what world did they think forcing some over the hill rock band that hasn't released a decent song in 15 years onto people a good idea? U2 are total trash.
