Used to hv a Realtek NIC in PCI slot on my Asus A7V333. Changed to Abit KD7 recently. The new mobo come w/ built-in NIC. Decided to use it.

XP failed to use the built-in NIC to connect to the net. The old NIC drivers w/ IP config & address still keep by the XP under hidden devices. Try to remove it but can't.

Any guidance ?

Did you try booting into safe mode (without network support) and removing the driver there?

Yup. But still no go. XP said something bout "unable to uninstall....reboot required". But after reboot...hidden devices + drivers still there.

Any other help ?

thats one of my biggest peeves with XP. in win2k, you could easily use the add/remove hardware from the control panel to remove hidden nics and free up the IPs, but not so in XP.

The only solution I have found is to use regedit, and search for the old IP, then deltete any of those strings. reboot, and you are all set
