Remove components from Dell case?

I just received my new Dell Inspiron 580 core i5 system. I was thinking about taking the components out and upgrading the system. This would include replacing the case with something nicer. Is this doable or do I risk breaking the motherboard or other components? Would I have to reinstall everything if I change video cards? Dell did not give me the cd's for Windows 7 or Office 2010.

Some components may not fit, such as the PSU which is most likely proprietary as well as the motherboard stand off and screw placement. I'd check the manual for screw locations and see if it's even ATX standard before attempting any moves.

You don't upgrade a Dell without certified Dell technicians unless you want to lose your warranty, have your computer self destruct and, get your goldfish kidnapped. Everyone knows this.

He speaks the truth. I do miss my goldfish Kenny! Dell killed Kenny! you bastards!

does it have an x16 PCIe slot? If so you probablu can upgrade video card w/ out resorting to all that (no need to reinstall windows). Also should very the PSU can handle increase draw from GPU.
