Remoting into another machine for tech support

My mom often call me for technical advice about the computer. Unfortunately, it's difficult to describe what's going on over the phone. What I would like to do is to remote to her machine and see what she is seeing. Is there any software that allow this sort of thing?

I guess the requirements are:

1. Must work with Windows XP Home.
2. Must work over a dialup (her side).
3. Have good security.
4. Cheap

If both machines are running XP, Remote Desktop Connection might work. That's assuming it isn't disabled or blocked by firewall.

Start->programs->accessories->communications->Remote Desktop Connection

Oh, and it may log your Mom out when you connect.
 
remote assistance built into xp. just make sure its enabled on her computer (system properties > remote > "check allow user to remotely connect" or something like that and just use windows messenger to iniate it easily.

btw is your mom hot?
 
i dont understand. with remote assistance there is no need to ask for an IP or mess with any of that stuff. its more user "friendly". its free and already on both computers.
 
Remote Assistance is the way to go - she just emails you a request with a password you need to take over and it will not log her out.
