My gf got a remote starter. She decided to get it at the dealer because she was afraid of voiding the warranty blah blah blah. She wanted me to try to do it (yeah irght, i would have probably did something dumb to void the warranty), I said, "whatever...your money...you are not going to bug me if somethign goes wrong with the installation, so I am not doing it". Cost her $300 after tax. It was not a Toyota remote starter, it was a third party one.
1. Is it common for people to control a remote tarter form their own FOB, or must you use a the one that comes with the starter unit?
2. How much would this have cost if she did it somewhere else? Also, I'd imagine that most of that $300 cost was installation and that the unit probably cost $60?
I have to say that this thing is not that bad at all. It works from our apt to the car, which is about 125 FT away.
