Why would you need it to do that?

Keeps the fluids from freezing in cases of extreme temperature.

Just plug it in to a block heater then? Gotta be cheaper/better than auto cranking the car.

What kind of temperatures do these freeze at? There's been some extreme cold up here, and i don't recall ever having these kinds of trouble. Also, how would you know if these froze? Would the car not start?

it may be like garage door openers...your neighbor may have the same system tuned in to the same frequency....

that's kinda funny though, if I was your neighbor, I'd mess with you all the time too ;)

the fun side is that you can do the same them them as well :p

Non-synthetics oil's pour point is around -30 degrees F, but being pourable doesn't make it easily pumpable. Same with transmission fluid. For most places in the world it wouldn't matter, but I would want it in the artic. :p

That's what I first thought. What model remote start, and who did the install?

Take it back, have them clear it and reprogram it from scratch.

Does a neighbor have a similar alarm system? If they pressed a button on their remote, it may have accidently triggered your alarm. Just few days ago, my car alarm went off (from the thunder) and few seconds later, the alarm just shut off and headlights flashed, but I never touched my remote to turn it off. My neighbor has the same system as me and I think they thought it was their car that went off.

supposedly rollong codes are supose to make that impossible.

A rolling code can still stop at the same code as your neighbor's. Our company install's garage doors and this has happened to our installer 2 times in fifteen years. Press the button and both the neighbours and the door he just installed go up.

Only from 3 of them, and they are doing it again tonight....

It says a threat call, but i dunno, they seem to make that noise alot of the time and i've never seen em fight. They pretty much scamper off when we get close.

I doubt it is temperature based - that would require the unit to have a temperature sensor, which you'd probably know about.

However, if it was not just a random fluke (IE remote sent out a signal for no reason, electronics went berzerk for no reason, total random chance RF interference) then it IS possible that the remote start was set to start the car if your battery voltage dropped below a certain threshold. I think that's a feature that some have that you might legitimately not know about.

However, like everyone else said - take the car back to the shop that installed it and ask them to check it out. At the very least you should ask them to reset the RF code to something new (if that's possible).

Actually, I didn't see any sort of auto start - check your owners manual. I found this online under "Timer Mode" - it sounds possible that this is what happened (you can always wait 3 hours and see if it does it again..haha):

By pressing the remote and buttons the parking
lights will flash 4 times and then start the vehicle and run for the
set duration. The remote start can be shut off by the transmitter
by pressing the remote start button and remain in timer
mode, but if any other shut down zones or the ignition becomes
active the timer mode will cancel.
1. Press Timer mode buttons.
2. The vehicle will confirm with 4 parking light flashes.
3. A 1-second delay will start.
4. The system will start the car and will run for the specified
duration, unless shut down by the remote start button . If
shut down with the remote start button the
system will remain in timer mode.
5. The system will start every 3 hours until canceled by the
The system will start every 3 hours until canceled by the
brake, hood, or neutral safety shut-down wires.

To exit timer mode, turn the ignition switch on any time the
engine is running. The parking lights will flash 4 times, indicating
timer mode has been exited.
