remote software

What is the easiest and secure remote access software? I want to help my friends to troubleshoot her computer. Both her and I are behind firewalled router. I would like to stay away from windows messager. Please advice, thanks

remote desktop or remote assistance should work fine. you do have to edit the remote assistance file. this page explains how: http://jmfmvps.mvps.org/remote_assistance.htm


you need to forward port 3389 on her side also.

remote desktop only works for XP Pro

Since your both behind firewalls just forward the ports on both sides and use TightVNC (http://www.tightvnc.com/). Be sure to use password protection.
Ideally (assuming it is you helping her) she would only start the server on her side when you are ready to help her and then shut it down when done. That way it is not running 24x7. But TightVNC is pretty secure anyway.
If she needs a step by step on setting up her router send her to the correct page at Port Forwards (http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm)

There is also a freeware that does it. Check Hamachi. A friend has a mobile computer repair business in Florida, and he is using Hamachi to access his PC and files from a ny client's machine.

I have some trouble with my english, AlexAlf - my friend.
We know a new program for remote control, it's very usefully.
Perhaps we are spamers but we have a our mind and speak with you.

You could use www.logmein.com, very handy if you don't want to have to forward ports. The free version allows remote desktop control
