Remote Restart Windows

Hello,

I have been away from my home computer for two weeks now (and will be for another 8 weeks) and I have noticed that it does not appear to be running correctly now. The web server works, but it looks like the MySQL database is not running, also and more importantly my online data backup program (mozy.com) does not appear to be uploading my files.

I did not properly plan ahead and set up any software to allow me to control it over the internet. As far as I can think the only thing left for me to do is to hack it and restart it that way. Unfortunately I have 0 hacking experience. The computer is running a good firewall so I don't know if it is possible or not.

Any Ideas?

Edit: Windows XP Home

lol, you're kidding, right? If you were actually able to do that with any amount of ease, it'd be a MASSIVE security hole that would get patched ASAP.

Anyone have keys to your place?

Hacking in is going to be big stretch, and this isn't the place to ask anyway.

Did you try shutdown /i yet?
As long as you have admin priveleges on that machine, it should let you reboot it. It does seem to work over the internet, assuming nothing blocks the message. Worth giving a try.

How?

That's a huge assumption, since that would require RPC to work. Which uses TCP port 445, which nobody in their right mind opens to the external world.

rather easy to do --- as long as you have a VPN in to your network.

I just checked my Rosetta@home stats for that computer and it has been returning bad results since the 11th. If I was smart I would have set up some program to auto restart every week or so.
I just hope the power blinks off soon, I need an ice storm!!
