Remote Networking Question

I want to set up a remote network between the computer at my school and the computer at home; has anyone done this before, if so then what program do I use and what are all the steps involved in setting this up.
They turn the computers off but the nic is wake on lan, but i dont know how to get started.

Any help would be appreciated:)

For Remote:

Some Use Microsoft Remote capacity embedded in WinXP.
