at my home computer (winxp) i enabled remote desktop. right now that computer is on and fully functional.
im at work now (win2k-pro) tried connecting to my computer to the ip i got from ipcfg and its saying

the client could not connect to remote computer.
remote connections might not be enabled or computer might be busy to accept new connections.

now my computer at home is not locked and has a user logged in.

whats wrong here?

You need to open port 3389 on your router and forward it to your computer, secondly you might want to check with your network admin to see if that?s ok. Many companies block outgoing ts access.

do you have windows firewall on?
or a firewall?
b/c you need to open port 3389
If someone else is logged on it will let you enter your password and then ask if you would like to continue and send a message to the other user...

if your works not blocking it and no router. Sounds like you need to enable remote desktop in xp firewall.

on the home pc there is no firewall, remote desktop is enabled.

should the computer be at the logon screen when it should be connected to?

it doesn't matter what screen the computer is on it should at least let you try to connect and log onto it...
you have xp-pro at home right?
also there is a password on one of the accounts, b/c it won't let you do it unless there is a password on one of the accounts

In that case, your b0x0r has already been McPwN3d by some 3l33t h4x0r do0d and he's logged into your Remote Desktop, and it won't allow another session.
