I have a friend who needs to connect a computer with Vista Home Premium to a work computer running XP Pro. She used to be able to do this easilly with remote desktop. Yet, now she is unable to do so. Is there any work around so that remote desktop will function? Or, is there any other similar way to work from home with those computers?

Thanks

Vista home premium comes with the remote desktop client. It should connect to the XP Pro box with no problem. The remote desktop feature that doesn't come with Vista Home Premium is the one that allows you to connect to the Vista box.

I use remote desktop (Visa premium -> XP Pro) on a daily basis. I would just have her check her firewall rules, she may have it blocked.

Hmm. I'll ask her to temporarilly disable the firewall and retry the connection.

Is there anything that needs to be done at the XP Pro machine to allow the connection from Vista?
